Scandinavian Artist David Sandum founded Twitter Art Exhibit. He had the idea of using social media to raise funds for his local library in Moss, Norway, through the sale of original postcard-sized artwork. In 2009 he used the social platform, Twitter, and received 260 postcards donated by artists from 24 countries. His quote, “Through art, we can change the world,” has gained a global following and has currently brought in more than 1000 entries from 65 countries worldwide.
Now into its 12th year, TAE21 is curated by Cat Salter Smith and will be hosted in Cheltenham, UK. The chosen charity to benefit from this global art exhibition is The Leukaemia and Intensive Chemotherapy Fund – LINC, located in Cheltenham, UK. LINC is a local charity that supports patients and families fighting blood cancer.
“We try to be their lifeline by offering emotional support, their relief by providing financial grants, their comfort by funding extras for the isolation side rooms and the breakthrough by funding research into potential new treatments …“
